Dr. Joel Terriquez, M.D., is an infectious disease and HIV specialist at nodSpecialists in Phoenix, AZ with additional training in respiratory infections and holds a certification in infection control and hospital epidemiology. His professional interests include medical microbiology, zoonotic and respiratory infections as well as the human microBiome. Over the past decade, Dr. Terriquez has been invested in clinical work as an infectious disease consultant, medical director of infectious disease and prevention at various organizations. He is a medical microbiology instructor, and CDC collaborator for the development of guidelines for the management of bioterrorism agents.
Dr. Terriquez earned his medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Baja California, Mexicali, Mexico. He is a board certified internist and infectious disease specialist. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and infectious disease fellowship program at the University of Arizona and trained at the Valley Fever Center of Excellence in Tucson.
Notably, Dr. Terriquez was awarded best overall resident performance at the University of Arizona in 2009. He received additional training in the field of infections of the immunocompromised host at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and in respiratory infections and mycobacterial disease at National Jewish healthcare in Denver.
Dr. Terriquez is fluent in English and Spanish and he was the recipient of the 2017 “Physician of the Year” award in Northern Arizona.
