Meet Dr. Rejeesh Vasudev, MD
During his childhood, Dr. Vasudev grew up in a rural area in India with poor access to healthcare and became frustrated with the issues faced by his family and community. As a result, he committed himself to be a solution to this significant health care conundrum.
Driven to improve access of healthcare to the underserved, Dr. Vasudev earned a Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery at the University of Kerala in 2004 and a Doctor of Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in 2010. He then completed his Nephrology fellowship at the West Virginia University Health Science Center.
After finishing his training and while working as a consultant nephrologist, Dr. Vasudev was appointed as the Chair of Internal Medicine department at CHI- St Joseph Regional Health Center at Bryan, Texas. Prior to that, he served as the Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine at the same hospital and as the Co-Chair of the Internal Medicine Department at College Station Medical Center. Dr. Vasudev was instrumental in recruiting physicians and approving their credentials as well as solving several conflicts and issues, assuring smooth running of the department. Later, he received his Master of Business Administration with a special focus on Health Care Management from University of Texas at Tyler.
Throughout his career, Dr. Vasudev has built upon his existing skill set, earning Diplomate status through the American Board of Internal Medicine and the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons, as well as completing Intensive Diabetes training through Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, Renal Ultrasound for Nephrologist coursework at Emory University and Specialist in Clinical Hypertension through American Society of Hypertension. He improved his leadership skills through further training and became a Certified Physician Executive through the American Association of Physician Leadership. Dr. Vasudev also served as a member of Texas Medical Association Council on Constitution and Bylaws.
Supported by his vast educational and professional experience, Dr. Vasudev excels today as a nephrologist with BCS Kidney Clinic and as a Telemedicine Nephrologist at nodSpecialists. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University Health Science Center and the Medical Director at Davita Dialysis Clinic at Brenham, Texas. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he maintains his fellowship at the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Nephrology, and the American Heart Association with special focus on Hypertension management. He was associated with the National Kidney Foundation and American Society of Hypertension as well.
Due to his industry knowledge, Dr. Vasudev has contributed to many articles and presentations, including “Imaging in Patients with headache is Still a Gray Matter,” “Chronic Kidney Disease for Primary Care Providers,” “Metabolic Acidosis for Respiratory Therapists” and “What You Should Know About Kidney Disease.” Throughout his career, Dr. Vasudev has been honored with accolades such as the Physician Recognition Award with special commendation from the American Medical Association, recognized as a Top Nephrologist in Brazos County through Top Doctor Awards and as a Rising Star Texas Super Doctor in Texas Monthly.
Alongside his dedication to the field of medicine, Dr. Vasudev has also contributed to the community through the KEEP Healthy kidney screening by National Kidney Foundation, where he reviewed on-site test results and counseled at-risk factors associated with Chronic Kidney Disease. Dr. Vasudev has also volunteered with Prevent Blindness Texas and the World Health Organization, where he participated in the Global Embrace Walk and the Worldwide Walk Event for the Active Aging. He also spearheaded and was a Lead Physician to launch the Walk with a Doc program at Bryan-College Station in Texas, and he participated in the Luv Thy Kidney Walkathon at Brazos Valley and was a planning committee member for Brazos Valley AHA Heart Ball.
Dr. Vasudev is most proud to have mentored future generations of medical providers and have been chosen to serve the underserved in his community. Looking toward the future, he intends to broaden his horizon in reaching the underserved population ailing from kidney health problems and to bring comfort to their lives.
